Cannes Market offers ‘Forest of Silence’ from Iran

The 2019 Cannes Film Market in France is offering Iran’s ‘Forest of Silence’.

The 2019 edition of the Cannes Film Market (Marché du Film) in France has been offering Iran’s ‘Forest of Silence’.

Directed and produced by Soheil Abdollahi, the film is a coproduction of Iran, Turkey, Thailand and Cambodia.

Made in horror genre, it is about an Iranian psychologist, Kimia Madani, who travels to Japan to study on masochism.

Entering a jungle known as jungle of suicide, she finds herself in an unpredictable situation.

Mahya Dehqani, Shapour Souri, Behrouz Harouni, Anita Ramezanpour, Shaqayeq Haj-Hashemi, and Alireza Qazvini are among the cast of ‘Forest of Silence’.

Abdollahi has travelled to the Cannes Film Market to promote his debut film.

Cinema Donkey’ by Shahed Ahmadlou and ‘The Elephant King’ by Hadi Mohammadian from Iran are also among Iranian offerings at this edition of the Cannes Film Market.

The Cannes Film Market, the largest film market in the world, is the business counterpart of the Cannes Film Festival.

It was created in 1959 and has been held annually since then, simultaneously with the major international film event.

The 2019 Cannes Film Market has been slated for May 14-23.
